Two hit men walk into a diner asking for a man called "the Swede". When the killers find the Swede, he's expecting them and doesn't put up a fight. Since the Swede had a life insurance policy, an investigator, on a hunch, decides to look into the murder. As the Swede's past is laid bare, it comes to light that he was in love with a beautiful woman who may have lured him into pulling off a bank robbery overseen by another man.
The Killers is a Crime, Mystery, Thriller film released in 1946.

Movie Dialogue Sample
- Oh.
513
00:38:17,772 --> 00:38:21,124
- Miss Harmon, Blinky Franklin.
- How do you do?
514
00:38:24,279 --> 00:38:27,155
At the piano, Lou Tingle,
and our hostess, Miss Collins.
515
00:38:27,156 --> 00:38:30,200
Kitty, Mr. Anderson and Miss Harmon.
516
00:38:30,201 --> 00:38:32,619
Hello.
517
00:38:32,620 --> 00:38:36,290
- What are you drinking, Miss Harmon?
- Ginger ale, please. Plain.
518
00:38:36,291 --> 00:38:38,292
- Swede?
- Rye and water.
519
00:38:38,293 --> 00:38:40,878
- Ah, Blinky.
- Yeah?
520
00:38:40,879 --> 00:38:43,672
Rye and water and ginger ale plain.
521
00:38:43,673 --> 00:38:46,483
Make yourself at home, folks.
522
00:38:58,521 --> 00:39:01,481
- Jake tells me you're a fighter.
- Do you like the fights?
523
00:39:01,482 --> 00:39:04,276
I'm afraid I've never seen one.
524
00:39:04,277 --> 00:39:07,988
- No kiddin'!
- I hate brutality, Mr. Anderson.
525
00:39:07,989 --> 00:39:11,825
The idea of two men beating each
other to a pulp makes me ill.
526
00:39:11,826 --> 00:39:14,036
I saw all Swede's fights.
527
00:39:14,037 --> 00:39:16,663
How wonderful of you.
528
00:39:16,664 --> 00:39:19,249
I could never bear to see a man
I really care for being hurt.
529
00:39:19,250 --> 00:39:21,084
Kitty.
530
00:39:21,085 --> 00:39:23,228
Oh, excuse me.
531
00:39:31,512 --> 00:39:35,307
- She's beautiful.
- Yes.
532
00:39:35,308 --> 00:39:37,935
Plain ginger ale for you, lady.
533
00:39:37,936 --> 00:39:40,938
I've changed my mind.
You can sweeten it now.
534
00:39:40,939 --> 00:39:43,456
No trouble whatsoever.
535
00:39:46,152 --> 00:39:49,045
It's a nice apartment.
536
00:39:49,697 --> 00:39:52,407
Must cost a fortune to keep it up.
537
00:39:52,408 --> 00:39:56,636
I'll bet they need two servants
at least to take care of it.
538
00:39:56,996 --> 00:40:00,832
<i>The more I know of love</i>
539
00:40:00,833 --> 00:40:06,088
<i>The less I know it</i>
540
00:40:06,089 --> 00:40:08,090
Here's your drink, lady.
541
00:40:08,091 --> 00:40:11,426
<i>- The more I give to love</i>
- I said, here's your drink, lady.
542
00:40:11,427 --> 00:40:16,807
<i>- The more I owe it</i>
- Oh, thank you very much.
543
00:40:37,036 --> 00:40:40,722
- Sit down.
- Me?
544
00:40:43,042 --> 00:40:46,586
- Nice apartment.
- Big Jim likes to live well.
545
00:40:46,587 --> 00:40:49,589
- Big Jim?
- Yeah. Colfax.
546
00:40:49,590 --> 00:40:53,510
- He's not here tonight?
- Tonight? No, ma'am.
547
00:40:53,511 --> 00:40:56,930
Nor last night nor tomorrow night.
Not for a lot of nights.
548
00:40:56,931 --> 00:40:59,307
Big Jim has his time all booked up.
549
00:40:59,308 --> 00:41:02,535
Jim's out of town, Miss Harmon.
550
00:41:03,354 --> 00:41:08,108
<i>A heartbreak or two</i>
551
00:41:08,109 --> 00:41:12,337
<i>The more I know of love</i>
552
00:41:13,990 --> 00:41:19,260
<i>And you</i>
553
00:41:23,291 --> 00:41:26,460
Right then I knew
the boat had sailed.
554
00:41:26,461 --> 00:41:29,846
I just got my things
and went on home.
555
00:41:32,691 --> 00:41:35,177
I don't think Ole even missed me.
556
00:41:35,178 --> 00:41:37,596
He'd never been in love before.
557
00:41:37,597 --> 00:41:40,164
Poor Ole. When he did fall,
it had to be for dynamite.
558
00:41:40,165 --> 00:41:44,352
- Who's Big Jim?
- Colfax? A thief with a touch of class.
559
00:41:44,353 --> 00:41:47,647
Was in jail at the time.
Went straight after he came out.
560
00:41:47,648 --> 00:41:50,150
That was seven, eight years ago.
561
00:41:50,151 --> 00:41:54,154
- And the Swede went crooked?
- I know what you're thinking, Mr. Riordan.
562
00:41:54,155 --> 00:41:56,406
I seem like a good deal
of a heel, don't I?
563
00:41:56,407 --> 00:41:59,493
First, I marry Ole's girl. Then I
send him up for three years.
564
00:41:59,494 --> 00:42:04,706
Oh, now don't talk nonsense, Sam. I wasn't
Ole's girl, not when I married you.
565
00:42:04,707 --> 00:42:07,000
And you didn't set out to arrest him.
566
00:42:07,001 --> 00:42:09,252
That's right.
567
00:42:09,253 --> 00:42:11,922
Lil and I had been married
about a month then.
568
00:42:11,923 --> 00:42:14,257
And one night, I went
into Lou Tingle's cafe.
569
00:42:14,258 --> 00:42:16,968
I'd been given a tip
on some hot jewelry.
570
00:42:36,823 --> 00:42:38,865
- Hello, Sam.
- Hiya, Charlie.
571
00:42:38,866 --> 00:42:41,326
Miss Bryson, Lieutenant Lubinsky.
572
00:42:41,327 --> 00:42:43,870
- How're tricks, Sam?
- It's been a long time.
573
00:42:43,871 --> 00:42:47,040
- You're partly to blame for that.
- Only 90 days' worth.
574
00:42:47,041 --> 00:42:49,334
No hard feelings.
575
00:42:49,335 --> 00:42:52,145
Who's the girl sittin'
next to Jake the Rake?
576
00:42:53,548 --> 00:42:55,757
Name of Collins.
577
00:42:55,758 --> 00:42:58,593
- She got any other names?
- None that I know of.
